Draft document: to be reviewed by a lawyer before publication (Projet de document : à faire relire par un juriste avant publication)

Privacy policy

Burrow app for iPhone. Last updated: [DATE]. Draft version: 0.1. The French version is the reference for French-speaking readers.

In short

Burrow creates no account, shows no ads, uses no audience measurement tool and has no server. Your sessions, blocks, subjects if you turn on Study mode, and progress stay on your iPhone. The publisher receives none of it.

Your data never trains any AI.

The only data the publisher receives is what you send yourself, for example when you write to support.

The full text follows, part by part. Use the contents list to jump to what you need.

1. Who is responsible

Burrow is published by Alex Gerard (a natural person resident in Belgium; [BCE/KBO NUMBER if applicable]), Rue Saint-Martin 87, 6860 Ebly (Léglise), Belgium. For any question about your data: support@burrowfocus.app.

Because the app sends no personal data to the publisher, the publisher is a data controller only for the messages you send (part 7) and for this website's technical logs (part 8). [TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE LAWYER: GDPR analysis and whether a data protection officer is needed]

2. Data that stays on your iPhone

Burrow stores on your device:

This data lives in the app's protected storage on your iPhone and in a space shared only with Burrow's own extensions (widgets, blocking screen). It is not sent to any publisher server, because none exists.

3. Screen Time

To block apps, Burrow uses Apple's Screen Time tools (Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity) with "individual" authorization: it covers only your own iPhone.

4. Spotlight and Siri

Burrow uses two Apple features that keep a small index on your iPhone, handled by iOS and never sent to the publisher:

You can turn both off in the iOS Settings, in Burrow's Siri and Search options. "Delete all my data" in Burrow also removes these entries and donations.

5. Notifications

Burrow's notifications are local: the iPhone schedules them itself, without a server. They cover the end of a focus phase, unlocking and, for subscribers, subscription reminders. Burrow never sends promotional notifications. Streak and goal reminders stay off until you turn them on.

6. Purchases

Purchases go through the App Store with your Apple Account. Burrow receives neither your payment method nor your identity: the app only checks, on your iPhone, whether you are entitled to Pro. The publisher sees aggregated sales in Apple's reports, not linked to an identified person.

7. When you write to support

DataYour email address, the content of your message and what you attach (iOS version, screenshot...). Do not include sensitive information.
WhyTo answer your request and fix the problems you report.
Legal basisYour request (pre-contractual steps or performance of the service) and the legitimate interest in helping users. [TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE LAWYER]
RecipientsThe publisher and its email provider, [EMAIL PROVIDER]. No sale, no advertising use.
Retention[RETENTION PERIOD, for example 12 months after the last exchange], then deletion.

8. This website

This website uses no cookies, no audience measurement tool and no third-party script or font. The host, [HOSTING PROVIDER], may keep technical logs (IP address, date, requested page) for [PERIOD] to keep the service secure.

9. What Burrow does not do

If, in Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, you chose to share data with developers, Apple may send the publisher anonymized crash reports. That setting belongs to Apple, not to Burrow.

10. Minors

Burrow is made for high-school and university students. It does not ask your age, collects no personal data from anyone and offers the same features at every age. Burrow is not intended for children under 13. [TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE LAWYER: COPPA, GDPR article 8, French Data Protection Act article 45]

In regions where the law requires Apple to share an age range with apps, Burrow receives it through iOS, keeps it on your iPhone and uses it only to follow that law. No feature, price or notification depends on your age.

Apple never gives Burrow your birth date, only a range such as 13 to 15 or 18 and over. Where the law requires it, Burrow asks for that range each time it opens and waits for it before showing its screens; the range is erased when you use "Delete all my data" in Settings.

Purchases depend on the Apple Account. In a Family Sharing group, the organizer can approve them with Ask to Buy.

11. Your rights

For the data the publisher holds (parts 7 and 8), you can ask for access, correction, erasure or restriction, object to the processing or ask for portability by writing to support@burrowfocus.app. We answer within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian supervisory authority, the Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données, APD / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit, GBA), rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels (autoriteprotectiondonnees.be), or with the data protection authority of your EU country of residence.

For the data on your iPhone, you control it directly:

12. Security and transfers

Because the data is on your iPhone, its security depends first on your device: passcode, iOS updates. Burrow relies on iOS data protection. The publisher sends no app data outside the European Union, since it receives none. Processing done by Apple follows Apple's policy.

13. Changes to this text

If Burrow changes how it handles data, this text will be updated before the affected version ships, with a new date at the top. An important change will also be announced in the app and in the release notes.
